If you're familiar with VA (and it's unpredictable weather this time of year), then you're aware winter weather may not (yet) be over.
I remember 2 of my birthday parties as a kid being postponed due to blizzards ('93 and '96) that came through Northern VA and recently (April '22) was at a TU and Orvis sponsored event at Buchanan Hall in Upperville where we experience snow flurries for a short period of time.
That being laid out, the river is currently "warm." It was 62-65°F while fishing last week and fish are likely moving and prepping for what I can only hope to be a successful spawn this year. Water temps and levels are obviously weather dependent BUT the river has maintained fishability with only 1 high water event this year (so far).
What this means is I WOULD LOVE to get y'all out on the river to chase some musky or smallmouth as they become more active.
GOOD NEWS: my booking calendar is currently WIDE OPEN for the weekends with the exception of a Sunday (4/2/23)
BAD NEWS: I will be having surgery some time in May and will be closing the booking calendar from my surgery date through the end of June or early July.
What this means is all booking options are fair game until my surgery and you'll be limited to bass fishing and fly lessons upon my return in the summer. Musky will go live again in the fall when water temps start hanging in the 70s.
Anyways, I just wanted to give y'all a heads up about what is currently going on and hope to see all of you at some point in the future.
Tight Lines,
Brian
